Forget the Economy; 7 Reasons to be Optimistic
Look around and you will
quickly see the attitude of business reflected in their signage. One diner
recently had this sign in their window: Recession Wrap - $3.99.
Such a sign reflects the attitude
in many companies today. Their signs may read something like this: Sales
recessed, were depressed and it shows.
Fear and anxiety have saturated the culture of many companies and it is
having a significant impact on their business processes, targets, results and
expectations.
There’s a clear difference
between delusion and reality so let’s not kid ourselves. Businesses are facing
some of the most challenging global economic factors of the modern era. From a
sales growth and business advancement perspective the fear is being oversold.
Here are 7 reasons for businesses to be optimistic and focus on advancing their
organizational performance and growth.
- Great optimism
still exists in companies where creativity and discipline are like hand and
glove.
- CEO’s in
well-run publicly held companies don’t need to be micro-managed by a board of
directors. They think and act in the best interest of their people and their
company without board mandates. People are happy and contribute to company
growth.
- Key leaders in
privately held companies reserve the right to make quick and expedient
decisions independently. This allows their company to act quickly as needed.
- Competition is
the heartbeat of capitalism and CEO’s in well-run companies recognize that now
is the time to maximize this position and advance.
- Judgment and ego
don’t cut it in the “new economy.” It’s all about how do I do what I do best
and be of service to you.
- A movement is
afoot that shifts the value focus from “I did something, you pay me” to “I have
a talent to offer because it will serve you.” The mutual exchange creates a
synergy by which the focus becomes the integration of need and talent. Profit
is important, but only as a result of commitment to help the customer achieve
something greater.
- Trust still
exists as a cornerstone where people speak the truth out of a desire to create
a positive impact rather than manipulating an outcome.
